I need your help!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 10, 2008 by jameswisener

First let me start by saying I know I am a horrible blogger. I have been told. I know I don’t blog enough for anyone to actually want to follow. But if you were to be reading, I could use your help.

I need prayer partners. I need some people who will commit to praying for me. I am trying to get a list of 100 people praying for me. So if you you are willing let me know. I NEED YOUR PRAYERS.

I have a lot of decisions to make and some very exciting things in the works. But it will take an act of God for these things to happen. So I covet your prayers. So call me, email me or leave a post. I will let you know how you can pray once you have signed up.

“Nothing of eternal significance happens outside of prayer.”  That is a great qoute from someone, I just not sure who said it first.

Fathers Day

Posted in Uncategorized on June 15, 2008 by jameswisener

This one is different. This one is tough. I always love Father’s Day. I love eating at our parent’s house and just taking it easy. But this is the first one without my Daddy. My wife and kids have done everything to make it special for me. But I miss my Daddy.

However, I am a blessed man. I am who I am today because of my Daddy. I wrote some thoughts about him here.

My Dad is having his best Father’s Day ever! His earthly father walked out on him when he was just a kid, but today he is in the presence of our heavenly Father. I can almost here him singing praises to God. I love my Daddy.

Be Strong and Courageous

I have been reading Joshua chapter 1 for the last few days. It is a great passage where God tells Joshua He is about to give him every place he sets his foot. God tells Joshua He will never leave him or forsake him.

Then God tells Joshua not once, not twice, but three times to “be strong and courageous” in just a few verses.

That has me thinking….

Maybe getting to where we need to be is never going to easy. Even if God is with us. Even if God is on our side. Even if God wants it for us. And He does. He wants us to be where we need to be much more than we want to be there.

Maybe we are in for a serious battle. Be strong and courageous. That is what I want. No matter what he calls me to do.

Back From Vacation

Here is a family picture. We planned on making a bunch that night, but Bekah rubbed sand in her eye. We didn’t get many more of the whole family.

About 10:00 AM Tuesday morning a minister, bride, groom and family walked out on the beach. The picture above is the bride and groom kissing. The groom has the sweet white suit. The bride you can barely see, she is hugging the & kissing the groom. The minister is standing just over the brides shoulder. The family is standing behind them.

About 10 foot behind the family is the ultimate wedding crashers, Ivey and Graham. They were not invited, but nobody seemed to mind.

This Bekah Grace after Mamma buried her in the sand.

This picture was taken at The Ballastone Inn in Savannah. That is where Cathy and I stayed on our honeymoon 18 years ago. Do you see that sporty Pontiac Montana behind us? Check out the picture taken about 3 minutes later below.

Oh Yeah! The only thing sexier than a Pontiac Montana minivan is one that has been hit by a Savannah tour trolley. We got a free hour and half tour of Savannah for the whole family out of the deal. Cathy and I loved it. There is lots of history in Savannah. The kids thought it was boring. Graham’s exact words were, “Daddy, I don’t want to learn on my vacation.”

All in all, we had a great time. Stayed at a great place right on the beach (thanks to a great family in our church). And I was able to really relax (thanks to my Mom for going with us and taking care of the kids). It was great to get away and spend time with my family!

Graham: Daddy, what is chicken made out of?

Me: Chicken!

Graham: Oh, I thought it was cow. Seems like everything is made out of cow.

Way to go Ivey!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on May 13, 2008 by jameswisener

I want to brag on my girl. It has been a few weeks ago, but since I have not been blogging lately, I missed out on sharing some really cool stuff.

My daughter Ivey is 12 years old and a 6th grader at Unity Christian School.  The staff at the school had asked the high schoolers if they wanted to share at Chapel on Wednesdays. No one volunteered so Ivey asked if a 6th grade student could do it. They agreed to let her be in charge of the whole service. The whole service!

Here are some highlights:

  1. She recruited her friends for greeters. A first for Chapel, I believe.
  2. She developed sermon notes to hand out. Another first.
  3. She used powerpoint. Very creative with it too.
  4. She had a video clip to introduce the sermon.
  5. She recruited a friend to pray.
  6. She recruited a worship leader and the songs tied into her sermon. I did say sermon. She brought it!

By the way it was good. I mean real good. I was so pumped! Nobody could have been more proud of anyone that day than I was of my daughter. She studied and worked so hard on that service and it showed. She did it with excellence. I’m not talking about doing the best you can with what you have, excellence (Gina). I am talking about by professional standards, excellence.

Way to go Ivey! You have a gift. You are very creative and bold. I am so proud of you!

Someone said, “She is a chip off the old block”. I wish my first sermon was 1/2 that good. I wished my last sermon was 1/2 that good.
